Now, Magento 2 allows you to keep track of all the changes made to a product over time, which is called product revision history. For example, let's say you have a t-shirt product in your Magento 2 store. 

Initially, the t-shirt is available in three colors: red, blue, and green. However, after some time, you want to add a new color, yellow. 

To do this, you make changes to the product in the Magento Admin panel by adding the yellow color option to the product.

The product revision history feature in Magento 2 will record this change and display it as a revision. So, whenever you view the product's revision history, you will see that the product was initially available in three colors (red, blue, and green). 

However, it also shows the date and time when the color was added to the product, and this change is now part of the product's revision history.

How Does Product Revision History Work?

Initial Configuration

After installation, the admin needs to perform the following action-

• Enable the Magento 2 Product Revision History. 
• Set the number of records to be displayed. 
• Set the days till which the details of the record will auto-delete. 
• Select the product attributes you want to show the edit history.

Revision History 

Admin can check the list of the products edited with their SKU, Product Type, Product Type when it was created and when it was last updated.

View History

Check the revision history of the product with the details like Updated by, Creation Date, Deletion date and the Actions taken.

Access the Product Revision History for a Specific Product

Here admin can view the Product History for a specific product. Choose the product and view the product history on the edit product page.

Change Log

In the change log, check the changes in the product that were made, as per their attributes.
