Overview
Back to topMagento 2 by default support Google reCAPTCHA to protect storefront forms against spambots. However, spammers today try to bypass Google reCAPTCHA and still submit the forms.
Honeypot - Stop Spam extension for Magento 2 is a great alternative to Google reCAPTCHA. It uses the honeypot technique to protect Magento 2 forms against spammers/spambots.
The extension adds a hidden honeypot input at the end of the form. Normal visitors/customers won't see/fill the hidden honeypot input, and can successfully submit the form. However, spambots can see the hidden honeypot input as another field in the form, and when they fill the hidden honeypot input, the form will fail to submit.

- Define the failed forms submission message from the backend
- Work with multi-store
Work With Any Forms Types
The Magento 2 Honeypot - Stop Spam extension works with any form types such as Magento 2 forms (contact, product review, customer log in/registration, newsletter subscription, etc), and custom forms.
Protect Forms by Honeypot Technique
The extension uses the honeypot technique to protect your Magento 2 forms against spammers.
In the admin panel, you can list the forms (by form actions) to protect. In the frontend, a hidden honeypot input will be added to any form to protect.
Normal visitors/customers won't see and fill the hidden honeypot input. However, spambots will see the hidden honeypot input as another input in the form, and will always try to fill it.
On any form submission the extension will check if hidden honeypot input is filled (has data) or empty. If the hidden honeypot input is filled (mostly by spambots), the form will fail to submit and the failed message will display. However, if the hidden honeypot field is not filled (mostly by normal visitors/customers/users) the form will be submitted successfully.
Flexible Configuration
Magento 2 Honeypot - Stop Spam Extension is easy to configure and use. You can enable or disable the extension from the admin panel. Specify the list of forms to enable honeypot, and define the failed form submission message to display in the storefront.
