    Please Note: system9 has built this extension to facilitate quick API integration for LTL shipments with 3PL companies Echo Global Logistics and GlobalTranz. API integration for ground shipments is included for UPS and USPS. The extension was developed independently of the above entities.

    system9's Ultimate MultiCarrier Shipping Manager is unlike any other Magento extension on the market. No other extension gives you as much specialized control over every single item that you ship. This extension will calculate LTL (Less than Truckload) rates using Echo Global Logistics (Echo) and GlobalTranz (Global), two of the leading 3PL (3rd Party Logistics) providers. Added RL and XPO shipping rate features too. Rates for ground items will be calculated using UPS and USPS carrier shipping rates. Shipping rates will be displayed on the product page, shopping cart page, and during the checkout process. Rates will be based on a combination of product details (such as weight, dimensions, shipping method, etc), product origin, and customer destination address. The following screenshots illustrate the flow of the extension. Please review all for a more complete understanding of how the extension functions overall.

    To be clear, the Ultimate MultiCarrier Shipping Manager is designed to meet the needs of any merchant shipping any type of product. Whether it be bulky or heavy items that must be shipped LTL, smaller items shipped ground via UPS or USPS, "free shipping" or flat rate items, or any combination thereof, the Ultimate MultiCarrier Shipping Manager can handle it.

    This extension calculates LTL rates by utilizing a sophisticated algorithm that queries the Echo Logistics and GlobalTranz rating APIs. A user account for one or both of these providers is required to utilize the extension's LTL features. If only one of these providers is activated and/or available, the extension will automatically calculate LTL shipping costs based only on rates returned by this provider. If both Echo and Global are activated and/or available, the extension will query both providers, compare rates, and return the lowest available rate for any specific shipment. The rates are returned and calculated in real-time and can be obtained by any customer on any individual product page, the shopping cart page, or during the checkout process. These rates are also available to the site administrator if creating a new order manually from the Magento backend.

    The rate calculation process is similar in the case of smaller items that will ship UPS or USPS. Depending on how the Merchant configures the extension, the Ultimate MultiCarrier Shipping Manager will connect with the UPS shipping API, the USPS shipping API, or both. Rates and options available from each provider will be displayed to the customer.

    If a customer adds a combination of LTL and ground items to their cart, the extension will fetch rates from all carriers which are activated and will show the most favorable combined rates. Each rate will be based on an individual product's assigned shipping method, origin, and route. For example, one product may ship LTL from a regional Distribution facility direct to the Customer. Another product might ship from the Merchant's own local warehouse to the Customer via ground shipping. In each case, the extension will optimize and combine shipping methodologies in the most efficient way. Multiple origin addresses can also be assigned to individual products if needed. For these products, the extension will fetch rates based on the most cost-effective origin (based on distance from the destination address). To calculate these distances, the extension requires the use of a Google Geocoding API Key.

    The Ultimate MultiCarrier Shipping Manager allows for even more finely customized and individualized rates for each customer. For example, customers can choose from a variety of destination types (Residential, Commercial, Freight Terminal, etc) as well as if they will need a Lift Gate for LTL shipments. In the case of customers placing orders on holidays or weekends, the extension will automatically check for rates on the next available business day.

     

    Account & Pricing

    To utilize the extensions LTL capabilities, you need to manually sign up for a free Echo or Global account. The extension will not create your account automatically. For ground shipments, a UPS or USPS account is required. After you sign up for the above services, you can obtain the necessary API keys from each that will need to be added to the extension's Magento admin settings.

    There is no fee to use any of the carriers' API to obtain shipping quotes. You will only have to pay for shipments booked through the provider for any LTL or ground shipment you create and send to your customers. Payments for these shipments would be made through your account with the respective carrier. Address distance calculation and "city by zip code" details require a subscription to Google geocode API.

     

    Features:

    • Merchant can manage names and addresses for suppliers, warehouses, distributors, and manufacturers associated with any product.
    • Merchant can use any shipping method available for any product. Based on the selected shipping method, rates will calculate and display. Final rates will be combined for more than one item.
    • Delivery origin and routing can be assigned for each product. For example Distributor to Customer, Warehouse to Customer, Distributor to Warehouse to Customer, etc. Routes are automatically figured into the final rate.
    • Merchant can define Shipping Class and NMFC at the product level.
    • Default Shipping Class can be defined and used if missing at the product level.
    • Product level dimensions, extra weight, surcharge, shipping cost markup and more can be defined by the Merchant
    • Any product can be defined as "Free Shipping" or with a fixed shipping price.
    • Extra handling charges can be applied if product length is over 96" (extreme length) or if otherwise defined by Merchant.
    • Google address API will be used to get the city, state details if zipcode only is available at the checkout page.
    • If there are multiple addresses available for product origins (for example, multiple merchant warehouses) then the extension will determine the warehouse location nearest the customer shipping address. This location will then be used as a basis to get quotes.
    • Merchant can choose to enable Address Type and Lift Gate option at cart and checkout page, allowing customers to choose these options per their own requirements. Merchant can also define default values which will apply to all customers in the event these options are not needed.
    • Merchant can define holidays or other non-available days. These dates will automatically be skipped in quote results returned from the various rating APIs.
    • Merchant can enable the "Get Shipping Quote" button on the product page. When clicked, this button will open a small popup window. Customers will then need to enter the destination Country, Zip Code, and Delivery Type to get rates.
    • Merchant can create a BOL/Shipping Label for each carrier from the Magento admin panel. As an order moves through the shipping process, automated tracking emails will be sent to the customer, including a customized web site tracking link.
    • Customers can check tracking details for shipment.
