Overview

Inventory Location for Magento extends the built-in Multi-Source Inventory (MSI) system to give your team precise, shelf-level control over where stock lives in your warehouse or store. For every source assigned to a product, staff can record the exact physical location using four dedicated fields: Aisle, Bay, Level, and Bin Position. All four fields appear directly in the Assigned Sources grid on the product edit page, keeping location data right alongside quantity and status with no extra screens to navigate.

A Zone product attribute is also included, allowing you to classify simple products by department, area, or warehouse section using a fully manageable dropdown. Zone options are created and maintained through the standard Magento attribute interface -- no developer involvement required. Zone is filterable in layered navigation, making it straightforward to surface zone-specific product views and laying the groundwork for department-based browsing features.

Key Features

  • Adds Aisle, Bay, Level, and Bin Position columns to the Assigned Sources grid on the product edit page
  • Location data is stored in a dedicated database table, fully separate from core MSI tables and safe across upgrades
  • Introduces a Zone dropdown attribute for simple products, manageable by admin users like any standard attribute
  • Zone supports layered navigation filtering for category pages
  • All fields are optional with no default values -- adopt gradually without disrupting existing workflows
  • Clean service contract API for reading and writing location data from other extensions or custom code
  • No admin configuration panel required -- works automatically after installation
  • System attribute design prevents accidental deletion of Zone through the admin interface

Technical Details

  • Compatible with Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce 2.4.4 and above
  • Requires PHP 8.0 or higher
  • Requires Multi-Source Inventory (MSI), enabled by default in Magento 2.4.x
  • Uses declarative schema for database setup -- no upgrade scripts
  • Follows Magento coding standards with full service contract and repository pattern implementation
