A fake order is an order that is placed with the intention of a prankster to cause a loss of seller in the E-commerce business. Such order management that includes transport of the product and delivery steps is futile. It is the waste of time and money. To prevent such fake orders, validation measures should be taken in the store. Default Magento does not provide any functionality to avoid this type of order. It enables order verification via OTP sent to the shipping address telephone numbers at the checkout step. The customer is not allowed to place an order without verifying the order by disabling the "Place Order" button.
Cash On Delivery Mobile Number Verification(COD) offers an option to enable the "Resend OTP" button, enable the order verification only for Cash On Delivery Payment Method, and set a custom message for OTP! Cash on Delivery Mobile Number Verification(COD) Extension helps the admin to verify their customer shipping address telephone number using OTP (One time Password) to ensure genuine Cash on Delivery orders. When any customer chooses the Cash on Delivery payment method while checkout, the extension will ask a customer to verify their Telephone number with secure OTP to complete the order. Using this strategy, the store owners can reduce bogus orders and save up to 40 to 60% operation costs compared to the previous term.
Note: COD Mobile Verification for Magento 2 is compatible with Msg91, Twilio, Textlocal, Jawalbsms, etc... SMS gateways, but you can Email Us for FREE to make it compatible with your preferred SMS gateway other than those mentioned.
Account & Pricing
The Store Admin needs to create an account for whichever gateway they prefer to use and they need to buy credits to send SMS notifications. Below are the gateways supported with our COD Mobile Verification extension. You can create an account and have a look at their pricing plans.

After installing the extension, enable it from the backend. Select your preferred SMS Gateway and fill required API details. You can also set custom OTP messages for Send OTP text.
You can also set the custom OTP string type and length if needed. Once you configured the extension from the backend, it will start asking your customer to verify their shipping address telephone number each time before placing an order using the Cash on Delivery payment method.
