Back to topOverview
Back to topPPL Report Core installs the shared PPL Reports workspace inside the Magento admin and supplies the infrastructure used by modular PPL reporting extensions. It is a foundation and anchor module, similar to PPL Hub. It does not create storefront output or a standalone business report by itself; instead, it provides the PPL Hub menu entry, ACL resources, report registry, consistent shell UI, table and card rendering, CSV export behavior, SVG chart support, scheduled email infrastructure, and report widget contracts that other PPL report modules use. Merchants see one organized PPL Reports area in the admin, and each installed report can appear with the same period controls, export patterns, permissions, and empty-state behavior. This is useful when a store wants to add only the reports it needs while keeping a consistent UI and optional Action Widget integration.
The extension is built for stores that want reporting to stay modular. Instead of installing one large reporting package for every possible report, merchants can add the specific PPL report modules they need while keeping the same admin framework.
Why it is useful
Report extensions are easier to maintain and easier to use when the common parts are shared. PPL Report Core keeps navigation, permissions, rendering, export behavior, chart behavior, report widget integration, and scheduled email logic consistent across the PPL Reports family.
Important note
PPL Report Core does not include its own report or business report data. If only PPL Report Core is installed, the PPL Reports page correctly shows "No PPL Reports installed." This means no individual report extension has been installed yet; it is not a configuration error in Report Core.
Available PPL reports
The PPL Reports family includes:
- Revenue
- Top SKUs
- Coupon Usage
- Orders by Hour
- Payment Revenue
- Refund Rate
- Recent Orders Export
- Search Zero Results
- Stale Products
- Product Data Quality
- Admin Daily Digest
Install the matching individual PPL report extension when the Reports page should display actual reports.
Report Core configuration controls the shared report shell and scheduled-report infrastructure. Saving this configuration does not install report implementations.
Compatibility
PPL Report Core is designed for Magento Open Source 2.4 and Adobe Commerce 2.4. It provides the shared report UI contracts that PPL Action Widget uses to consume compatible report widgets from installed PPL report modules.
