Features

The USPS Smart Locker extension provides customers with an alternate delivery option during the checkout process. Customers can choose a secure and convenient Smart Locker located near their original destination address and it is absolutely free! 

•  At checkout, when a customer enters their destination address, the Smart Locker extension identifies any available Smart Lockers within a 20-mile radius of the destination ZIP code and notifies the customer. If the customer is interested, a map interface displaying the Smart Locker locations is shown. 
• Once the customer selects a Smart Locker from the map, their original destination address is replaced with the shipping address of the chosen Smart Locker. 

Labelling Requirements

Packages being shipped to Smart Lockers have specific labeling requirements. Each Smart Locker has a unique delivery address that is different from the physical Post Office address. The Smart Locker address must be used on the shipping label and should be formatted as follows:

Line 1: [Package Recipient Name]

Line 2: USPS SMART LOCKER

Line 3: [City] [State] [ZIP+4] for Smart Locker Delivery Address

Note: To ship a package to a Smart Locker, your package must be shipped exclusively via USPS (United States Postal Service). Packages shipped through any other carrier will be rejected by USPS and returned to the original sender.

Customer Notifications

A valid recipient email address must always be provided when shipping to a Smart Locker. The USPS sends a pickup QR Code to the recipient using the email address provided when the shipping label is created. If no email address is provided, the recipient will not receive the pickup notification and will be unable to retrieve their package from the Smart Locker.

Package Pickup

Once the order is delivered to a Smart Locker, customers will receive the pickup notification email with a unique PIN or QR Code along with pickup instruction and the physical address of the Smart Locker, allowing them to pick up their package at their own convenience, day or night.
