How AI Photo Editor for Magento 2 Works

Our extension integrates with Photoroom and supports two levels of image editing:

• Basic Mode (available with the standard Photoroom subscription) allows you to remove backgrounds, change background color, crop, resize images, and save them in JPG or PNG formats (transparency is only available in PNG).
• Advanced Mode (available with Photoroom Plus) provides enhanced features, including object and text removal, shadow correction, scaling, margin adjustments, and more.

Editing features are available in both modes regardless of your subscription plan, but the cost per edit may vary.

You can switch between Basic and Advanced Mode directly within the editing window, and the system will display the available features and pricing details accordingly.

How to Edit Images in Basic Mode

Let's take a closer look at how you can edit product photos using our module in Basic Mode.

Step 1: Open the content for editing.

In Magento 2, go to the product editing section or media gallery, locate the desired image, and click "Edit Image."

In the media gallery: Go to Content > Media > Media Gallery, select the desired file, and click "Edit Image."

In the product editing section: Go to Catalog > Products, open the desired product, find the Images and Videos section, click on the thumbnail, and then click "Edit Image."

Step 2: Adjust the image.

An editing panel will open, allowing you to:

• Remove or change the background (if no color is selected, the background will be transparent).
• Adjust the size, position, and alignment for a consistent look.
• Enable or disable cropping.
• Select JPG or PNG format (transparency is supported only in PNG).
• Replace the original image or save the edited version as a new file.

Click "Generate" to create new variations, select the ones you need.

Step 3: Choose and apply the best version.

Once new variations are generated, they are automatically added to the gallery.

• Each variation has a checkbox—if selected, the original image will be replaced with that version, while the others will remain as additional options.
• If any variations are not needed, they can be manually deleted using the corresponding button.

Click "Apply" to confirm your selection and save the changes.

If you update a product image, the module will automatically regenerate all its versions (Base, Small, Thumbnail, Swatch).

What You Can Do in Advanced Mode

The Basic Mode allows you to perform essential editing tasks. However, if you need more advanced tools, you can switch to the Advanced Mode (Photoroom Plus).

In this mode, you get access to:

• Object and text removal without the need for third-party editors.
• Shadow correction, scaling, and margin adjustments to better integrate objects into the background.
• The ability to select and apply multiple edited versions of the same image.
• Saving editing settings for consistent adjustments across multiple images.

The editing process in Advanced Mode follows the same steps as in Basic Mode—you open files, adjust settings, and apply changes. However, the editing panel includes additional tools for more precise modifications.
