Back to topOverview
Back to topCashfree Payments for Magento 2 by Meetanshi adds Cashfree as a payment method at your checkout, so Indian shoppers can pay the way they already do: UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking, wallets, and Pay Later. One integration covers all of them, and none of them needs separate setup on your side.
Magento does not support Cashfree out of the box. Without it, you are either limiting customers to a short list of card options many Indian shoppers do not use, or leaning on cash on delivery, which ties up working capital, raises RTO rates, and delays revenue. This extension puts Cashfree on the checkout page. The customer selects it, is redirected to Cashfree's hosted checkout, pays with their preferred method, and returns to your Magento order success page with the order confirmed.
Security & Compliance
Card payments are completed on Cashfree's hosted checkout page, so card numbers, expiry dates, and CVV codes are entered on Cashfree's infrastructure and never pass through or get stored on your Magento server. That keeps your store's PCI scope smaller and your compliance obligations lighter. The extension also verifies the signature on returning transaction responses and accepts webhook callbacks directly from Cashfree's servers, so order status changes are driven by validated gateway data rather than by anything the browser could tamper with. Your App ID and Secret Key are stored encrypted in Magento configuration, with test and live credentials kept separate.
Features of Cashfree Payments for Magento 2
- Cashfree at checkout: Adds Cashfree Payment Gateway as a payment method on the Magento 2 checkout page.
- All major Indian payment methods: Customers can pay by UPI, credit and debit cards, net banking, wallets, and Pay Later options on Cashfree's hosted checkout.
- Hosted redirect checkout: Payment is completed on Cashfree's hosted page, so card data is not handled by your store.
- Signature-verified responses: The returning transaction status from Cashfree is validated before the order state is updated.
- Webhook callback handling: A dedicated webhook controller processes asynchronous notifications from Cashfree, so orders update correctly even if the customer closes the browser before returning.
- Separate sandbox and live credentials: Independent Test and Live App ID and Secret Key fields let you validate the full flow before going live.
- Encrypted credential storage: API keys are stored encrypted in Magento configuration.
- Auto invoice generation: Optionally create the Magento invoice automatically once payment is confirmed.
- Custom method title: Set the payment method name customers see at checkout.
- Show Cashfree logo: Optionally display the Cashfree logo next to the method title.
- Checkout instructions: Add custom instructions shown beneath the payment option at checkout.
- Applicable countries control: Offer the method to all allowed countries or restrict it to specific ones.
- Debug logging: Write detailed API requests and responses to var/log/cashfree.log for troubleshooting.
- Sort order control: Set where Cashfree appears in the list of payment methods.
- No coding required: Install via Composer, add your API credentials, and start accepting payments.
Use Cases of Cashfree Payments for Magento 2
- Indian Magento 2 stores that need UPI at checkout, now the default payment habit for most domestic shoppers.
- Merchants already using Cashfree elsewhere who want the same gateway on their Magento storefront.
- Stores reduce dependence on cash on delivery by giving customers more prepaid options.
- High-value catalogs where Pay Later and card EMI options help shoppers commit to larger orders.
- Businesses that want a hosted payment flow so card data never touches their own server.
- Stores on unreliable mobile networks where customers frequently drop off mid-redirect, and webhook confirmation matters.
- Merchants who want to trial a new gateway safely in a sandbox before switching live traffic to it.
Benefits of Cashfree Payments for Magento 2
- Fewer abandoned carts: Shoppers see the payment method they already use, instead of being pushed toward one they do not have.
- Less reliance on cash on delivery: More prepaid options mean faster settlement and fewer return-to-origin losses.
- Orders that do not get stuck: Webhook confirmation keeps order states accurate even when the customer's browser session breaks.
- Reduced compliance burden: Hosted checkout keeps card data off your Magento server.
- Cleaner order workflow: Auto invoice moves paid orders forward without manual admin steps.
- Safe rollout: Sandbox credentials and test mode let you verify the whole flow before real money moves.
- Faster troubleshooting: Debug logs capture the actual API exchange, so support questions can be answered from evidence.
