Back to topGoogle UCP Checkout for Magento 2 by Meetanshi implements Google's Universal Checkout Protocol, so shoppers can discover your products inside Google's AI surfaces and complete the purchase there with Google Pay, while the order, the payment, and the customer record land in your Magento store exactly as they would from your own checkout.
Buying behaviour is moving upstream. Shoppers increasingly start and finish a purchase inside an AI assistant or a Google surface rather than by browsing to a storefront. UCP is the protocol that lets that happen without handing your catalog and your customer relationship to a marketplace. Your store publishes a discovery profile at /.well-known/ucp, Google reads the endpoints it needs, and checkout requests come back to your Magento instance over the API. Magento remains the system of record: it validates the cart, applies your pricing and tax rules, creates the order, and stores it alongside every other order for fulfillment, reporting, and support.
Note for merchants: UCP participation is gated by Google. Please contact Meetanshi to confirm UCP eligibility for your store before purchasing.
Features of Google UCP Checkout for Magento 2
- Universal Checkout Protocol implementation: Adds full UCP support to Magento 2, so your store can transact through Google's agentic commerce surfaces.
- Discovery profile endpoint: Publishes a read-only UCP profile at /.well-known/ucp returning the JSON service endpoints Google needs to find and validate your store.
- Google Pay checkout: Shoppers pay with Google Pay inside the Google interface, without being redirected to your storefront to re-enter details.
- Payment routed to your own gateway: Configure your Google Merchant ID, target payment gateway, and gateway merchant ID so funds settle to the processor account you already use. Works with gateways including Stripe and Braintree.
- Orders created natively in Magento: Every UCP order is created in Magento with your pricing, tax, and inventory rules applied, then managed like any other order.
- Guest or account-linked checkout: Choose whether UCP purchases complete as guest orders or link to a Magento customer account.
- Product identifier mapping: Map your primary product identifier to SKU or entity ID to match how your catalog is published to Google.
- Google UCP Eligible attribute: Every product gets an eligibility toggle, defaulting to enabled, so you can exclude individual SKUs from agentic purchase.
- Consumer notice field: Attach a per-product legal or compliance disclosure that travels with the product into the Google surface.
- Webhook and API synchronisation: Order state changes flow between Magento and Google in real time using the configured Partner ID and production API key.
- Admin-only configuration: Everything is set from the Magento admin. No custom protocol development is required.
Use Cases of Google UCP Checkout for Magento 2
- Merchants who want to be purchasable inside AI assistants and Google surfaces without building a protocol integration themselves.
- Brands already spending on Google Shopping who want the purchase to complete in-surface instead of losing shoppers on the click through.
- Stores in categories where buyers ask an assistant to compare and buy, such as consumables, replenishment items, and well-specified products.
- Merchants who want agentic sales without ceding the customer relationship, order data, or fulfillment to a third-party marketplace.
- Retailers already on Stripe or Braintree who want a new demand channel that settles to the same merchant account.
- Catalogs with a mix of agent-suitable and unsuitable products, where per-SKU eligibility control is necessary.
- Regulated categories that need a consumer notice presented at the point of purchase.
- Teams positioning for AI-driven commerce now, while the channel is still early and competition for placement is low.
Account & Pricing
You need a few third-party accounts before the extension can go live, and UCP participation is approved by Google rather than granted automatically. Please contact Meetanshi to confirm UCP eligibility for your store before purchasing.
- Google Merchant Center: Required to publish your catalog to Google. Free to open. Sign up
- Google Pay & Wallet Console: Required for the Google Pay credentials the extension uses. Free to register. Google Pay & Wallet Console
- A supported payment gateway: An active account with a supported processor such as Stripe or Braintree. These charge their standard per-transaction processing fees, the same ones you already pay on your own checkout. Settlement goes to your existing merchant account.
Google does not charge a separate listing or commission fee for UCP itself. Your running cost is the payment processing you already incur on any order. Review each provider's current pricing and terms before going live, as they are set by those providers and can change.
