Overview

Tap Payments for Magento 2 by Meetanshi connects your store to the Tap payment gateway, so shoppers across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, and the UAE can pay with the methods they already trust. Mada, KNET, Benefit, Oman Net, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Tabby, and Fawry are all available through a single integration, without any of them needing separate setup on your side.

Magento does not support Tap out of the box. Without it, MENA merchants either offer a short list of international cards that many local shoppers cannot use, or lean on cash on delivery, which ties up fulfillment and increases returns. This extension adds Tap as a payment method at checkout. The customer selects it, is redirected to Tap's hosted payment page, pays with their preferred method, and returns to your store's order confirmation page with the order placed.

Security & Compliance

Card payments are processed entirely on Tap's hosted payment page, which runs on infrastructure certified as a Level 1 PCI DSS compliant service provider. Because card numbers, expiry dates, and CVV codes are entered on Tap's page and never pass through or get stored on your Magento server, your store's PCI scope stays smaller and your compliance obligations lighter. The extension exchanges only API keys and transaction references with the gateway, and you can keep those keys separated between test and live environments.

Features of Tap Payments for Magento 2

  • Tap gateway at checkout: Adds Tap Payments as a payment method on the Magento 2 checkout page.
  • Local MENA payment methods: Supports Mada, KNET, Benefit, Oman Net, and Fawry alongside Visa, Mastercard, and Amex.
  • Digital wallets and BNPL: Customers can pay using Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Tabby, based on what your Tap account supports.
  • PCI-DSS compliant hosted payment: Customers complete payment on Tap's secure hosted page, so card data is not handled on your store.
  • Test and live modes: Separate Test and Live Public and Secret Key fields let you validate the full flow in the sandbox before going live.
  • Custom method title: Set the payment method name customers see at checkout.
  • Show Tap logo: Optionally display the Tap logo next to the method title at checkout.
  • Auto invoice: Automatically generate the Magento invoice when a payment is captured successfully.
  • Applicable countries control: Offer the method to all allowed countries or restrict it to specific ones.
  • Debug logging: Enable debug mode to log gateway interactions for troubleshooting.
  • Sort order control: Set where Tap appears in the list of payment methods at checkout.
  • No coding required: Install, add your API keys, and start accepting payments.

Use Cases of Tap Payments for Magento 2

  • Magento 2 stores selling in Saudi Arabia that need Mada support at checkout.
  • Kuwaiti merchants who need KNET, and Bahraini merchants who need Benefit, as a primary payment option.
  • Stores expanding into the MENA region that want one gateway covering multiple countries and local methods.
  • Merchants in Egypt who want to offer Fawry alongside cards.
  • Retailers reducing dependence on cash on delivery by giving customers more prepaid options.
  • Stores that want Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout without building a separate integration for each.
  • Merchants offering buy now, pay later through Tabby to lift average order value.

Benefits of Tap Payments for Magento 2

  • Fewer abandoned carts: Shoppers see the payment method they already use locally, instead of being asked to pay with a card they may not have.
  • Wider regional reach: One integration covers several MENA markets and their domestic payment networks.
  • Lower compliance burden: Payments happen on Tap's PCI-DSS compliant hosted page, keeping card data off your server.
  • Cleaner order workflow: Auto invoice moves paid orders forward without manual admin steps.
  • Safe rollout: Sandbox mode lets you test the full payment and redirect flow before real transactions run.
  • Faster reconciliation: Payment details are recorded against the order in the admin, so support and accounting can trace transactions.
