The sitemap is an XML file that informs search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. HTML sitemap links your website together to improve the navigation and SEO value. Meetanshi has developed Google Sitemap for Magento 2 that automatically generates an XML sitemap and HTML sitemap in Magento 2 store.

The extension generates an XML sitemap to quickly index and crawls your pages. The HTML sitemap makes it easier for the customers to navigate the site easily. Note: Google does not currently consume the <priority> attribute in sitemaps due to which we have excluded that feature from the extension for the sake of simplicity.

How Does The Extension Work?

• The admin can enable XML sitemap generation to make it easier for the search engines to crawl your store's pages. The admin can also enable homepage optimization, additional links, including images in the sitemap, and configure the maximum number of URLs per file and maximum file size.
• The admin can set the number of days after which the XML sitemap will be auto-updated regularly, enable sending a sitemap error email, set the Email ID of the recipient, and select the email sender and error email template.
• The backend grid "Manage XML Sitemaps" lists all the generated XML sitemaps with its details like ID, file name, path, URL, store view, and date of generation. The admin can add a new sitemap using the "Add Sitemap" button and delete multiple sitemap files using the delete mass action.
• The admin can add a new sitemap by entering the filename, path, and selecting the store view before saving it.
• Once configured, the sitemap index files can be viewed as a directory that provides information about the website in XML format for search engines.
• Also, one can check the XML sitemap file that includes information about the pages and other files on your site.
• The admin can also enable HTML sitemap to make the user navigation easier in Magento 2 store. He can include the category URLs, product URLs, and CMS pages URLs in the sitemap. He can also exclude a list of CMS pages, enable additional links to be included in HTML sitemap, and enter them one per line and enable adding HTML sitemap link in the footer.
• Once configured, the visitors can see the HTML sitemap link in the footer that opens the HTML sitemap page having all the pages included as in the configuration on the click.
