Back to topOverview
Back to topVisual product discovery depends on fast, accurate similarity search across thousands of product images. Pinecone is a managed vector database built for exactly that, storing and searching high-dimensional data such as image and text embeddings at scale. This extension uses Pinecone to hold your product image data and match it against what a shopper uploads.
AI Image Search for Magento 2 lets your shoppers search your catalog with a picture instead of words. A customer uploads or drops in an image on the storefront search page, and the extension returns the visually similar products from your store, so people find what they want even when they cannot describe it in text. Behind the scenes, the extension converts your product images into vector embeddings, stores them in a Pinecone index, and matches an uploaded image against that index using cosine similarity. You decide how close a match must be with a configurable similarity threshold, and you sync your catalog either in bulk from the products grid or through CLI commands for large catalogs and scheduled jobs. Once configured, a ready-made image search page is available on your storefront, giving shoppers a modern, AI-driven way to discover products by sight.
