Back to topOverview
Back to topSEO Meta Templates automatically generates meta titles, meta descriptions, meta keywords, and H1 headings for your Magento store using dynamic, reusable templates. Instead of writing unique meta tags by hand for thousands of products and categories — which almost always leaves you with empty, duplicate, or generic meta data — you define a pattern once using attribute variables such as {name}, {brand}, and {color}, and the extension fills it in on the fly for every product, category, and CMS page. For example, a single product template like {name} [in {color}] | {brand|manufacturer} turns a plain product into a clean, unique title such as "Air Zoom in Blue | Nike" — consistently, across your entire catalog, without editing a single tag manually.
The extension is designed for merchants, SEO specialists, and developers who want consistent, optimized meta data at scale. Templates are managed entirely from the Magento Admin, support fallback values for attributes that may be empty, optional wrapping to keep output clean, and condition-based targeting so the right pattern is applied to the right group of products. A built-in preview shows the exact generated output for a real entity before anything goes live.
Features
- Automatically generates meta title, meta description, meta keywords, and H1 heading from dynamic templates.
- Uses attribute variables such as {name}, {sku}, {price}, {brand}, and {color}, plus any product or category attribute.
- Supports fallback chains like {brand|manufacturer|name}, which use the first attribute that is not empty so a tag is never left blank.
- Supports optional wrapping such as [in {color}], which only renders when the attribute has a value, keeping output clean and natural.
- Provides separate templates per entity type for products, categories, and CMS pages.
- Offers condition-based targeting for product templates using the native Magento rule builder.
- Includes a priority system so you control which template is applied when several could match.
- Offers an "Always Override" or "Fallback Only" mode for existing meta data.
- Includes a preview feature to test templates against real products, categories, and CMS pages.
- Provides a dedicated Admin grid to create, edit, prioritize, enable, and disable templates.
- Respects configurable maximum lengths for titles and descriptions to keep output snippet-safe.
How dynamic templates work
Rather than writing static meta tags, you create a single reusable pattern and the extension turns it into a unique tag for every entity. A template combines three simple building blocks:
- Variables pull live attribute values straight from your catalog, for example {name} or {color}.
- Fallback chains use the first attribute that is not empty, for example {brand|manufacturer}, so a tag is never blank.
- Optional wrapping renders only when the attribute has a value, for example [in {color}], keeping the result readable.
Generated titles and descriptions respect the maximum lengths you configure, so nothing is awkwardly truncated in the search results.
Control how and where templates apply
You decide exactly when each template takes effect. In Always Override mode a template always wins and refreshes existing meta data. In Fallback Only mode it fills in only where a meta field is empty, preserving tags you have written by hand.
Templates are ordered with a priority system and targeted with condition-based rules built on the native Magento rule builder — for example only products in a certain category, brand, or attribute set — so the right pattern always applies to the right entities.
Built for products, categories, and CMS pages
The extension provides one consistent SEO system across your entire catalog and content. You can define independent templates for products, categories, and CMS pages, each using the variables relevant to that type. A product template can reference price and brand, while a category template uses its own attributes, all managed from a single Admin grid.
Preview before you publish
The built-in preview runs any template against a real product, category, or CMS page and shows the exact generated meta tag before it goes live. There is no guesswork and no need to flush the cache to check the result, so you always know precisely what search engines will read.
Benefits for merchants and SEO teams
- Removes the manual work of writing meta tags across large and growing catalogs.
- Prevents empty, duplicate, and generic meta data that quietly holds back rankings and click-through rate.
- Keeps meta data consistent and optimized as new products and categories are added.
- Improves search visibility and click-through with clean, snippet-safe titles and descriptions.
- Gives SEO teams full control from the Admin, without developer involvement.
Technical details
