Overview

SEO-Friendly URL extension for Magento 2 by Mageplaza helps merchants create clean, keyword-rich URLs for filtered pages in layered navigation, making them both search engine–friendly and user-readable. Instead of long and complex URLs, your store will display short, structured links that are easier to crawl and rank.

This improves your site’s SEO performance, allows better indexing of filter result pages, and enhances the user experience by making links more intuitive and shareable. With this extension, your Magento store will look more professional, perform better in search engines, and offer a smoother path for customers to find what they’re looking for.

Compatibility: This extension is now compatible with Magento 2.4.8 & Hyva theme.

Features

  • Generate unlimited SEO-friendly URLs
  • Block Google indexing of filtered pages
  • Add attribute alias
  • Choose which attributes appear in URLs
  • Set filter links as no-follow

Highlight Features

Optimize filtered-results URLs

To make your URLs for filtered result pages more SEO-friendly and boost your website ranking, our module enables admins to generate clear-structured URLs that search engines can understand accurately.

Adding attribute codes and filter keys helps automatically generate URLs based on categories while eliminating unnecessary special characters that make the link lengthy and unorganized. Thanks to that, your new URLs become shorter, clearer and more SEO-friendly.

Use custom aliases for shorter, keyword-rich URLs

Merchants can also add aliases - a custom nickname set by store admins, used to direct shoppers to the same page but with a clearer URL. If you leave this field blank, the attribute code will be used by default.

Create SEO-friendly URLs based on product attribute

Admins can easily optimize product attribute URLs directly in each attribute setting. Key actions include:

  • Generating SEO-friendly URLs
  • Allowing/Disallowing Google to INDEX the category page with applied filters
  • Allowing/Disallowing Google to FOLLOW links on the category page with applied filters
  • Setting an Alias for clean-looking URLs
  • Adding rel="nofollow" to filter links to prevent unwanted indexing

Manage Google indexing for filtered pages to avoid duplicates

Filtered pages often share metadata and descriptions with their category pages. Therefore, when indexing these pages, Google may misunderstand and consider them as duplicate content, which leads to lower search rankings.

To avoid this issue, Mageplaza SEO-friendly URL for Magento 2 allows you to control which page should be indexed by search engines.

Set filter links as no-follow for better crawl control

To protect your website’s SEO efforts, you can prevent search engine bots from crawling filter links, reducing the risk of duplicate content issues.

Please note that this feature is only available when using Mageplaza Layered Navigation extension for Magento 2 - Pro or Ultimate version.
