Back to topOverview
Back to topLet shoppers ask natural-language questions about any product and get instant, context-aware answers on your Magento storefront — without hiring more support staff. Ask AI adds a product-page chat widget that matches Magento’s own buttons and add-to links, optional list-page icons, and category compare mode. Answers come from your catalog data using your own OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or compatible API key. You control the provider, model, and spend; MageMaclean does not resell LLM inference.
Key features
- Product-page chat — Shoppers ask about fit, compatibility, specs, and availability while viewing a product. The default trigger is Magento’s primary action style below Add to Cart (optional wishlist/compare row or text link). Typing indicator, stop control, and queued follow-ups keep the conversation smooth while answers generate.
- Catalog-grounded answers — Responses use product name, description, attributes, stock, and price from your Magento catalog; configurable products can use parent or selected-child context. The assistant may derive straightforward facts from that context (for example volume from length × width × height). Optional review aggregates and media captions are available.
- Flexible placement — Enable Ask AI on PDP, category, search, related, upsell, cross-sell, and catalog widgets. Category and search tiles use Magento’s Add to Wish List / Add to Compare icon row. List surfaces share one modal per page and stay off by default.
- Compare mode — On category pages, shoppers can select two or three products and ask about the selection from a sticky compare bar.
- Bring your own API key — Connect OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or a compatible endpoint. Keys are encrypted server-side and never exposed to the browser. Test Connection verifies the key from admin.
- Built-in spend protection — Daily token budgets (survives Magento cache flush), per-session limits, surface-aware rate limiting, response caching, CAPTCHA after N requests, and budget email alerts help prevent runaway API costs.
- Usage dashboard — Admin report for daily tokens, cache hits, surface breakdown, and recent questions so you can tune budgets with real traffic data.
- Merchant-configurable — System prompts, PDP and list suggestion chips, Magento-matching accent color, button styles, PDP trigger display, and context scope.
- Hyvä companion — Optional bundled
MageMaclean_AskAiHyvaAlpine modal for Hyvä PDP storefronts. - Privacy-first defaults — Conversation logging off by default; API keys stored encrypted server-side.
Who is it for?
Catalog-heavy B2C and B2B merchants — technical products, configurables, compatibility-driven purchases — where PDP copy alone does not answer buyer questions.
