Overview

The ability to modify orders in Magento can be difficult to manage. When customers request to modify their order after it has been placed, Magento’s default behavior prevents store owners from making any changes to that order unless they cancel the order, recreate it, issue a refund, and perform manual inventory adjustments. The Merchant will spend much more time working on edits and is more likely to make errors than to satisfy their customers.

Order Editor extension for Magento 2 by MageComp allows a store admin to view and edit any placed orders within the store from the admin back-end without first having to cancel or create new orders. The admin can edit all aspects of an order with just a couple of clicks: order details, customer account, billing/shipping addresses, methods of shipping and payment, etc. Every time an admin edits an order, Order Editor for Magento 2 will automatically recalculate the order totals, tax amounts, shipping charges, and discounts.

Features:

  • Edit Orders directly from the admin area - No cancelling or recreating orders.
  • Change products, quantities, prices, and discounts confidently.
  • Update customer account information, such as name and email, to correct mistakes.
  • Edit Billing Address Information to ensure accurate invoices and tax calculation.
  • Change shipping addresses and methods after an order has been placed while automatically recalculating the shipping costs.
  • The Admin can also update the payment method securely via the back-end without causing disruption to the workflow of the order.
  • Automatically recalculate subtotals, taxes, shipping charges, and total after every edit.
  • Role-based permissions let you restrict order editing to authorized users only.
  • Compatibility with all product types of Magento will provide merchants with the complete flexibility and reliability to be able to make edits to an order.

How It Works

The merchant can install the extension through Composer or by downloading it via the admin panel and enabling it within their site. The setup process is quick and does not require any technical knowledge. Assign user permissions to control who can edit orders, ensuring secure and controlled access for your team. Determine which order section is editable. Go to Sales > Orders and click to view any placed order that needs editing. Click the edit controls next to order information, customer details, billing/shipping addresses, products, or payment/shipping methods. After making changes, save the order. The extension automatically recalculates totals, taxes, and shipping where necessary.
