Save Cart

Mage2Expert Save Cart is an extension for Magento 2 that lets logged-in customers save the current contents of their shopping cart under a custom name instead of losing it or having to re-add every item later. Customers can keep any number of named saved carts in their account, review and adjust quantities for each one, restore a saved cart back into their active cart, merge several saved carts into a single new one, or share a saved cart with anyone via a public link and one-click social icons — no recipient account required. A dedicated My Saved Carts page is added to the customer account navigation, and the Save Cart / Share Cart buttons can also appear directly on the shopping cart page. Store owners get a Saved Carts grid in the admin panel to review or remove any customer's saved carts, plus full control over which features, buttons, and social channels are active — all without writing a line of code. Every setting is store-view scoped, so the extension works cleanly across multi-store and multi-language setups from the start. 

Features

• Save the Current Cart by Name — a one-click Save Cart button on the shopping cart page lets the customer name and store the cart's contents; the active cart is cleared automatically once it is saved.
• My Saved Carts Account Page — a dedicated page in the customer account navigation lists every saved cart with its name, item count, and saved date, plus View, Share, and Delete row actions.
• Restore to Cart — add any saved cart's items back into the active shopping cart at any time with a single click, individually or for multiple selected carts at once.
• Merge Multiple Saved Carts — select two or more saved carts and combine them into a single new saved cart under a custom name, leaving the original carts untouched.
• Saved Cart Details Page — review every product, SKU, and quantity in a saved cart, update quantities inline, and Add to Cart, Share, or Delete directly from the same page.
• Public Sharing with Social Icons — generate a shareable public link with one-click Copy, plus toggleable Facebook, X (Twitter), WhatsApp, Pinterest, and LinkedIn icons that open each network's native share dialog pre-filled with the link.
• Shared Cart Landing Page — recipients see a responsive product grid with images, names, SKUs, prices, and quantities, and can add every item straight into their own cart with no account or login required.
• Admin Saved Carts Grid — a searchable, filterable grid under Sales → Saved Carts lists every customer's saved carts, with View and Delete actions and a Delete mass action.
• Customizable Buttons — configure the Save Cart and Share Cart button labels, text color, and background color directly from the admin, no theme edits required.
• REST API — list, save, restore, merge, and delete a customer's saved carts programmatically using a token-protected REST endpoint, ideal for custom storefronts and mobile apps.
• Independent Master Switches — disable the whole module, or sharing only, from the admin without losing any saved cart data; re-enabling restores everything immediately.
• Zero Core Code Modifications — built entirely on Magento's layout XML, plugin, UI component, and web API architecture. No class rewrites, no preferences, no patches. Safe alongside Magento upgrades and other extensions.

How It Works

After enabling the extension under Stores → Configuration → Mage2Expert → Save Cart, a Cart Title field and a Save Cart button appear on the shopping cart page totals sidebar. A logged-in customer types a name and clicks Save Cart: the items move into a new saved cart on their account and the active cart is cleared. From My Saved Carts in their account, the customer can view, restore, merge, share, or delete any saved cart at any time. Guests who click Save Cart are redirected to the login page first, since saved carts are tied to a customer account. 

Sharing & Social Icons

Clicking Share Cart — from the cart page, the My Saved Carts list, or the saved cart details page — opens a popup with the public share link and a Copy button, followed by an icon for each enabled social channel. Each of the five supported channels (Facebook, X/Twitter, WhatsApp, Pinterest, and LinkedIn) can be shown or hidden independently from Stores → Configuration → Mage2Expert → Save Cart → Sharing Settings. Anyone who receives the link opens a public landing page showing the cart's products with images and prices, and can add everything into their own cart in one click, even without an account. 

Admin Saved Carts Management

The Sales → Saved Carts grid gives store owners visibility into every saved cart across all customers, with columns for customer ID, cart name, share token, and created/updated dates. Use the grid's filters and full-text search to locate a specific cart, open it to review its items, or remove individual or multiple saved carts with the Delete mass action — useful for data clean-up or responding to customer support requests.

• Gift list sharing — a customer builds a cart of gift ideas and shares the public link with family or friends, who can add the items to their own cart and purchase directly.
• Cross-team or cross-device shopping — share a cart link between coworkers or between a customer's own devices to continue shopping from wherever is convenient.
• Abandoned-cart recovery alternative — customers who aren't ready to check out can save the cart by name instead of losing it, then return to restore it later.
