Back to topOverview
Back to topMage2Expert Quantity Control adds clean, theme-matched plus and minus stepper buttons next to every quantity field for Magento — on the product page, the shopping cart, the header mini cart, and the "Ship to Multiple Addresses" checkout. Instead of clicking into a number input, deleting the existing value, and typing a new one, shoppers simply tap a button to raise or lower the quantity, with the field updating instantly and no page reload. Each button automatically reads the product's own minimum sale quantity, quantity increments, and maximum sale quantity from Advanced Inventory, so step sizes and limits already configured in the catalog are respected without any extra setup. When a product does not define its own limits, configurable store-wide defaults are used instead, and the minus or plus button disables automatically the moment a limit is reached — giving shoppers clear visual feedback with no error messages required. Every display area can be switched on or off independently from the admin panel, the button labels can be fully customized, and the whole extension can be disabled instantly with a single master switch, with no data ever lost.
Features
- Quantity Stepper Buttons — adds a plus and minus button beside every native Qty input across the storefront, replacing manual typing with a single click.
- Four Independent Display Areas — Product Page, Shopping Cart Page, Mini Cart, and Ship to Multiple Addresses Checkout, each with its own admin toggle so you control exactly where buttons appear.
- Product-Aware Quantity Limits — automatically reads each product's own Minimum Qty Allowed in Cart, Quantity Increments, and Maximum Qty Allowed in Cart from Advanced Inventory and uses them as the step size and bounds for that product.
- Configurable Fallback Defaults — Default Minimum Quantity, Default Step Value, and Maximum Quantity settings apply automatically whenever a product does not define its own limits.
- Automatic Button Disabling — the minus button disables once the minimum quantity is reached and the plus button disables at the maximum, giving shoppers instant visual feedback.
- Custom Button Labels — replace the default "+" and "−" symbols with any short text or icon label of your choice from the admin panel.
- Master Enable / Disable Switch — turn the entire extension off instantly without uninstalling; all configuration is preserved and restored the moment it is re-enabled.
- Theme-Matched Styling — buttons automatically inherit your active theme's native input height, border colour, and border radius so they sit flush with existing form fields instead of looking like an add-on.
- Store-View Scoped Configuration — every setting can be configured per store view, making the extension suitable for multi-store and multi-language installations.
- Zero Core Code Modifications — built entirely on Magento's layout XML, RequireJS, and LESS systems. No template overrides, no class rewrites, no preferences — safe alongside Magento upgrades and other extensions.
How It Works
After enabling the extension, go to Stores → Configuration → Magento Expert → Quantity Control to switch the module on and choose which of the four display areas should show the stepper buttons. Plus and minus buttons then appear automatically beside every quantity field in those areas — no template editing or layout changes are required. Clicking a button increases or decreases the field's value by the resolved step size, immediately re-checks the minimum and maximum bounds for that field, and disables the relevant button if a limit has been reached. On the Mini Cart specifically, the extension watches the dropdown panel for newly added items and wires up buttons for them automatically as they appear.
Where It Appears
- Product Page — stepper buttons sit beside the Qty field inside the Add to Cart form, ready before the shopper even adds the item to the cart.
- Shopping Cart Page — buttons appear in the Qty column of the cart item grid and integrate with Magento's native Update Shopping Cart action.
- Mini Cart — buttons appear next to each line item's quantity in the header mini cart dropdown, so quantities can be adjusted without leaving the current page.
- Ship to Multiple Addresses Checkout — buttons appear in the Qty column of the multi-address checkout grid, letting shoppers fine-tune quantities before assigning shipping addresses.
Smart Quantity Limits
Every quantity field is resolved using a clear two-step priority order. First, the extension checks whether the product itself defines a minimum sale quantity, quantity increments, or maximum sale quantity under Advanced Inventory — these values always take priority. Only when a product leaves one of these settings empty does the extension fall back to the corresponding store-wide default from Quantity Limits in the configuration: Default Minimum Quantity, Default Step Value, and Maximum Quantity (set to 0 for no maximum). This means store owners get sensible, storewide defaults out of the box while individual product rules are never overridden.
Use Cases
- High-volume B2B and wholesale stores — let buyers step through large order quantities in case-pack or carton increments without manually calculating multiples.
- Stores with strict minimum order quantities — guide shoppers to a valid quantity automatically instead of relying on a checkout-time validation error.
- Mobile storefronts — replace fiddly number-field typing on small screens with simple tap targets for raising or lowering quantity.
- Conversion-focused catalogs — reduce friction at the exact moment a shopper decides how many units to buy, on the product page, in the cart, and in the mini cart.
- Multi-store retailers — apply different default quantity limits and button labels per store view without any custom development.
