Overview

Mage2Expert Hide Price is an extension for Magento 2 that hides product prices and the Add to Cart button from guests or from specific customer groups, replacing them with a styled "Call for Price" badge and a configurable Call-To-Action button that redirects to any CMS page — a Contact Us form, a quote-request page, or a login prompt. It is built for B2B, wholesale, and quote-based catalogs where pricing should stay invisible until a shopper logs in, requests a quote, or belongs to an approved customer group. Hiding rules can be set globally, per category, or per individual product, with the most specific setting always winning, and the same decision is available through REST and GraphQL so headless and PWA storefronts see exactly what the server-rendered pages see. Everything is configured from the admin — no theme edits, no developer time, and no core file changes.

Features

  • Customer Group Targeting — hide price and Add to Cart for any combination of customer groups, including "NOT LOGGED IN" so guests can be targeted directly.
  • Styled Replacement Badge — a configurable message such as "Call for Price" is shown in a styled badge in place of the price, not a bare line of text.
  • Configurable Call-To-Action Button — replace the Add to Cart button with a custom-labelled button that redirects shoppers to any CMS page, such as a Contact Us or request-a-quote form.
  • Independent Page Visibility Controls — separately enable or disable hiding on the product page, category and search listing pages, the compare page, the wishlist page, and a catch-all setting for widgets, the home page, and CMS-embedded product listings.
  • Product-Level Override — every product has its own Use Config / Yes / No setting, optionally narrowed to specific customer groups so a single product can follow its own rules regardless of the global configuration.
  • Category-Level Override — every category has the same Use Config / Yes / No setting, applied to every product viewed within that category.
  • Clear Priority Resolution — product settings always win over category settings, which always win over the global configuration, so merchandisers can reason about the result at a glance.
  • Widget & Home Page Coverage — the Catalog Products List widget is fully supported wherever it is placed, including home page "New Products" or "Hot Sellers" sections and CMS-embedded product lists.
  • REST & GraphQL Support — a REST endpoint and a GraphQL field expose the exact same hide/show decision, message, and Call-To-Action details for headless and PWA storefronts.
  • Store-View Scope Throughout — every configuration field, along with the product and category overrides, is store-view scoped for multi-store and multi-language catalogs.
  • Enable / Disable without Uninstalling — a master switch in Stores → Configuration → Mage2Expert → Hide Price suppresses all hiding while leaving every product override, category override, and setting intact. Re-enabling restores everything immediately.
  • Zero Core Code Modifications — built entirely on Magento's plugin, layout XML, and EAV attribute systems. No class rewrites, no core template edits, no patches. Safe alongside Magento upgrades and other extensions.

How It Works

After enabling the extension, go to Stores → Configuration → Mage2Expert → Hide Price and choose which customer groups should have pricing hidden, the replacement text to display, and the Call-To-Action button label and target CMS page. Independent toggles decide whether hiding applies to the product page, category and search listings, the compare page, the wishlist page, and any widgets or home page sections. From there, individual products or entire categories can override the global rule: set a product's own switch to Yes to always hide it, to No to always show it, or narrow a Yes to specific customer groups directly on the product edit form. No reindex is required — changes take effect as soon as the cache is refreshed.

Storefront Behavior

Wherever hiding applies, the price is replaced with the styled badge and the Add to Cart button becomes the configured Call-To-Action button, while wishlist links, compare links, stock status, and reviews continue to work normally. Category and search result grids, the comparison table, and the wishlist page all follow the same rules independently, so a single grid can show hidden pricing for some products and normal pricing for others side by side. The same logic reaches product lists embedded through Magento's Catalog Products List widget, including home page sections and CMS static blocks, without any manual template work.

REST API & GraphQL

A REST endpoint returns the hide/show status, replacement message, and Call-To-Action details for any SKU and customer group, and a matching hide_price_status field is available on ProductInterface in GraphQL, resolved automatically for the requesting customer. Both are ideal for headless storefronts, PWA Studio, or custom front ends that need to replicate the exact same pricing visibility rules as the default storefront.

Use Cases

  • B2B and wholesale catalogs — keep pricing hidden from the public and reveal it only after a buyer logs in or is approved for an account.
  • Quote-based and custom-priced products — replace Add to Cart with a "Request a Quote" style Call-To-Action for products that require a conversation before checkout.
  • MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) compliance — satisfy manufacturer pricing agreements by hiding price from the public storefront and directing shoppers to contact the store instead.
  • Dealer and distributor portals — show different pricing visibility to different customer groups, such as retail visitors versus approved dealers.
  • Coming soon or pre-launch products — publish a product page ahead of launch with pricing and purchasing hidden until it is ready for sale.
