Overview

Mage2Expert Coupon Usage Report is an extension for Magento 2 that shows store owners exactly which customers and orders used which coupon codes and cart price rules, and when. A single report grid — surfaced under both Reports and Marketing — combines a live summary statistics panel, rich filtering, full-text search, and one-click CSV/Excel export, so merchandising and support teams no longer need to cross-reference the orders grid and the sales rules grid by hand. The same data is also woven directly into the admin pages teams already use: a new Usage Report tab on every Cart Price Rule, a Unique Customers column on the existing Coupon Codes tab, and a Coupons Used tab on every Customer record. An hourly background check can email an alert the moment a coupon is used more often than expected, and an optional pre-aggregated summary table keeps the report fast even on stores with very large order volumes.

Features

  • Coupon Usage Report Grid — one row per coupon-bearing order with Order #, Order Date, Coupon Code, Sales Rule Name, Rule ID, Customer Name, Customer Email, Customer ID, Customer Group, Order Status, Order Total, Discount Applied, and Coupon Total Uses. Every column is sortable and can be shown or hidden from the column picker.
  • Live Summary Statistics Panel — five stat cards above the grid (Total Coupon Uses, Unique Customers, Unique Coupon Codes, Total Discount Given, Total Revenue) recalculate instantly whenever a filter or search term changes, with no page reload.
  • Advanced Filtering — filter by order date range, coupon code, sales rule, customer name, customer email, customer group, a multi-select order status filter, and order total / discount amount ranges, all at the same time.
  • Full-Text Search — a single search box matches coupon code, customer email, and order number together, so any one detail is enough to locate an order.
  • One-Click CSV & Excel Export — export the currently filtered result set with no row limit, respecting every active filter, directly from the grid toolbar.
  • Clickable Cross-Links — the Order #, Customer Name, and Sales Rule Name columns link straight to the order view, customer edit, and cart price rule edit pages respectively.
  • Guest Checkout Support — guest orders appear in the report and clearly display "Guest" in place of a broken customer link, so no coupon activity is ever hidden from the report.
  • Cart Price Rule Integration — a new Usage Report tab on every rule edit page shows a plain-language summary line plus a full order history for that rule, and the existing Coupon Codes tab gains a Unique Customers column next to the core Times Used column.
  • Customer Record Integration — a new Coupons Used tab on every customer edit page lists every coupon order that customer has ever placed, with sorting and pagination.
  • Granular Access Control — separate View and Export permissions under Admin User Roles. Export buttons are hidden in the UI, and the export endpoints are independently rejected server-side, for any role without Export permission.
  • Automated Threshold Alerts — an hourly cron checks whether any coupon code has been used more than a configured number of times in a day, or by the same customer more than a configured number of times overall, and emails an alert once per breach rather than repeatedly.
  • Configurable Alert Email Template — choose the built-in alert template or select a custom template created in Marketing → Email Templates; the email is rendered with the store's own transactional email header and footer.
  • Optional Performance Aggregation — a pre-built summary table with a configurable cron schedule lets the report read pre-aggregated data instead of joining live sales tables on every page load, for stores with heavy order volumes.
  • Zero Core Code Modifications — built entirely on Magento's UI component, layout XML, plugin, and cron architecture. No class rewrites, no core patches. Safe alongside Magento upgrades and other extensions.

How It Works

After enabling the extension, open Reports → Coupon Usage Report → Report or Marketing → Coupon Usage Report → Report — both open the same grid. Every order that has a coupon code applied appears automatically; no configuration is required to start seeing data. Apply any combination of filters or type into the search box, and both the grid and the summary statistics panel update to match. Click a Sales Rule name to jump to that rule's edit page, where a Usage Report tab is already waiting with the full order history for that rule. Click a Customer name to open their record, where a Coupons Used tab lists every coupon order they have placed.

Usage Alerts

Navigate to Stores → Configuration → Mage2Expert → Coupon Usage Alerts to turn on the hourly alert cron. Two independent thresholds can be set: how many times a single coupon code may be used per day before an alert fires, and how many times a single customer may reuse the same coupon code before an alert fires. Each breach is emailed once — using either the built-in alert template or a custom template of your choosing — and includes a button linking straight back to the filtered Coupon Usage Report page.

Performance Aggregation

Stores with a very large number of orders can enable Use Aggregated Data in the same configuration section. Once enabled, a scheduled cron job (with a fully configurable cron expression) rebuilds a dedicated summary table, and the report grid reads from that table instead of joining the live sales tables on every page load — keeping the report responsive no matter how much order history has accumulated.

Use Cases

  • Marketing teams — measure exactly how a coupon campaign is performing, which customer segments are redeeming it, and how much discount it has cost, without exporting data into a spreadsheet.
  • Customer support — open a customer's record and immediately see every coupon they have used, to answer billing or loyalty questions without searching the orders grid.
  • Fraud & abuse prevention — automated alerts catch a single coupon being reused far more than intended, or one customer applying the same code repeatedly, before it becomes a significant loss.
  • Finance & reporting — export filtered coupon usage data by date range for reconciliation or promotional ROI reporting.
  • High-volume stores — the optional aggregation mode keeps the report fast even when the live sales tables have grown very large.
