Back to topOverview
Back to topThe MageDelight Wire Transfer Payments extension adds offline bank transfer as a standard checkout option, built for international sales, B2B orders, and high-value purchases where a bank-to-bank transfer is often preferred to a card. A customer choosing wire transfer sees the admin-configured bank details and instructions immediately, places the order, and completes the transfer through their own bank; the admin then confirms receipt and updates the order from a dedicated wire transfer grid.
Configuration covers both eligibility and communication. Admins set which countries can use wire transfer, minimum and maximum order amounts, and the bank details and instructions shown to the customer, all editable at any time. Every order placed this way triggers an automatic confirmation email with the transfer details, and admins get their own notification the moment a new order arrives.
Features
- Offer wire transfer as a payment option at checkout, with bank instructions shown immediately
- Configure which countries are eligible to use wire transfer
- Set bank name, account number, SWIFT code, and IBAN, editable at any time
- Set minimum and maximum order amounts eligible for wire transfer
- Track and update wire transfer order status from a dedicated admin grid
- Send automatic order confirmation emails containing wire transfer instructions
- Notify admins by email the moment a new wire transfer order is placed
Security
- Method: this is an offline, manual payment method with no payment gateway, API connection, or redirect involved at any point; the customer completes the transfer independently through their own bank after checkout.
- Customer data entry: no card number, bank login, or payment credential is ever entered by the customer on the store's checkout page, since the store only displays the merchant's own bank details and instructions.
- PCI scope: because no cardholder or bank-login data is captured, transmitted, or stored by the store, this method sits outside the standard PCI DSS SAQ categories (A, A-EP, D) that apply to card transactions; confirm the applicable compliance treatment for your setup with your acquirer or a QSA.
- Data storage: no customer payment credentials are ever stored on the store's server; only the merchant's own bank account details, entered by the admin, are stored for display purposes.
- Exceptions: none. This method never accepts entered payment details from the customer, so there is no manual re-entry scenario, such as a phone or MOTO order, to disclose.
Compatibility spans Open Source, Adobe Commerce, and Commerce Cloud, with Hyvä theme, GraphQL, REST API, and B2B compatibility included. As an offline method, order placement does not depend on a live gateway connection, so checkout completes reliably even where gateway access or connectivity is inconsistent.
Most stores either skip offline bank transfer entirely or handle it through ad hoc email exchanges with no structured tracking. This extension keeps it a proper checkout option instead, with country and order-amount eligibility, standardized instructions, and a dedicated order grid, giving a method many B2B and international buyers already prefer the same structure as any other.
Business-Level Overview
For a founder or eCommerce manager selling internationally or into B2B accounts, the absence of a bank-transfer option can quietly cost orders that would otherwise close. Buyers accustomed to paying by wire, particularly on high-value purchases, often will not complete a purchase without it.
The operational shift is direct: sales and finance teams configure eligible countries, order thresholds, and bank details themselves, and confirm payments from one dedicated grid, instead of managing wire orders through ad hoc email threads.
Revenue impact follows from capturing orders otherwise lost to a missing payment option. High-value and B2B buyers who prefer bank transfer complete their purchase instead of abandoning it, without the store taking on card-processing fees for those orders.
For CTOs evaluating long-term fit, the method needs no gateway integration or API maintenance, and GraphQL, REST API, and B2B compatibility keep it usable as the store adds headless storefronts or B2B account structures over time.

Business Problem vs Solution
International and B2B buyers expect a bank-transfer option Problem: Buyers used to paying by wire, especially on large orders, often abandon a purchase if that option is missing. Solution: Wire transfer is offered as a standard checkout payment method.
Wire transfer orders get tracked through email instead of the store Problem: Without a dedicated workflow, confirming bank transfers turns into scattered email threads. Solution: A dedicated admin grid tracks every wire transfer order and its status.
Wire transfer makes sense for some orders, not all Problem: Accepting bank transfer for every order regardless of value or region does not fit every business. Solution: Configurable country eligibility and order thresholds scope the method to where it fits.
Customers are unsure what to do after choosing wire transfer Problem: Without clear instructions, customers left to complete a transfer alone may delay or mishandle payment. Solution: Customizable instructions on the confirmation page and email spell out exactly what to do.
Gateway dependency adds cost for some transactions Problem: Routing every transaction through a card gateway adds fees some orders do not need. Solution: Offline processing avoids gateway fees and dependency for wire transfer orders.
Business Benefits (Measurable Outcomes)
- Capture international and B2B orders otherwise lost without bank transfer
- Avoid card-processing fees and gateway dependency on these orders
- Reduce order-confirmation errors with standardized instructions
- Cut admin effort tracking payments through a dedicated order grid
- Support high-value transactions with a trusted payment method
- Expand payment coverage into regions where cards are less common
Sample Use Case
A B2B distributor selling internationally had been losing large orders from buyers who wanted to pay by bank transfer, previously handled through manual email exchanges with no structured tracking.
The finance team configured eligible countries, set a minimum order threshold, entered the bank details, and wrote clear instructions for the confirmation email. Every incoming order now appears on a dedicated grid for confirmation once funds arrive.
Within the following quarter, the store completed several large B2B orders that had previously stalled at checkout, and the finance team spent measurably less time chasing payment confirmations by email.
FAQs
Q1: Can I show different bank details per country or store view? Yes. Bank details are configured in the admin and can be scoped per store view, so different regions display their own account information.
Q2: What order status is set after a customer chooses wire transfer? The order is placed in a pending payment status until the admin confirms the transfer on the order grid, then updates it to processing.
Q3: Can wire transfer be restricted by customer group or order amount? Order amount is restricted through configurable minimum and maximum thresholds. Customer group restriction is handled through our dedicated payment restrictions extension.
Q4: Does the customer receive bank transfer instructions by email? Yes. An automatic confirmation email includes the wire transfer details the moment the order is placed.
Q5: Is the extension compatible with Hyvä and GraphQL? Yes. It is fully Hyvä-ready and supports GraphQL alongside REST API and B2B compatibility.
Q6: Does setting this up require custom development? No. Bank details, countries, and order thresholds are all configured from the admin, no code changes needed.
Q7: Does accepting wire transfer slow down checkout? No. It is offline with no live gateway call, adding no processing delay.
Q8: Will this keep working after a version upgrade? Yes. It works through standard payment and order structures rather than core overrides, keeping it stable across upgrades.
