Back to topOverview
Back to topThe MSI Source Product Listing extension for Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source is a high-performance inventory management and catalog filtering solution designed for multi-channel merchants. By default, the core Multi-Source Inventory (MSI) engine aggregates inventory stocks across physical channels into single website-level stocks. However, modern storefront layouts, geo-located services, and Buy Online Pickup In Store (BOPIS) configurations require presenting specific catalog views, category pages, search results, and checkout validation rules relative to stock levels at individual physical warehouses or retail locations.
This extension addresses this need by introducing a decoupled, custom database indexing layer (kodefolks_source_stock_index) that dynamically compiles stock quantities and salable statuses on a source-by-source basis. It intercepts catalog search requests sent to Elasticsearch or OpenSearch query builders to append dynamic, location-specific stock filters. As a result, products that are out of stock for a customer's active location are automatically hidden from category and search listing pages.
The active inventory source is resolved dynamically using a stacked priority stack, accommodating standard frontend setups, headless setups (via custom HTTP headers), and cookie-based geolocation utilities.
Key Features
- Source-Wise Inventory Indexer: Pre-computes and caches stock levels (simple, configurable, bundle, grouped, and virtual product types) to prevent database overhead during page loads.
- Elasticsearch & OpenSearch Integration: Dynamically injects source stock range queries into category pages, quick search results, advanced search results, and GraphQL endpoints.
- Layered Navigation Selector: Renders an optional frontend location dropdown widget in the catalog sidebar, allowing customers to manually choose their preferred location.
- Smart Suppress Fallback: Automatically hides the sidebar selector widget when compatible geolocation store locators are active to prevent UI conflicts, falling back to read store locator cookies automatically.
- Headless Architecture Ready: Resolves inventory sources for PWAs or custom frontend clients (e.g., Next.js) using the custom HTTP header
InventorySource. - Add-to-Cart & Checkout Validation: Prevents customers from placing orders that exceed physical stock availability at their selected location, prompting clear, real-time localized quantity warnings.
- Built-in Diagnostics CLI: Includes a dedicated terminal command (
bin/magento kodefolks:storewisestock:test-filter) to test and verify Elasticsearch query structures.
Installation & Configuration Overview
- Registration: Run the standard CLI activation commands: bin/magento module:enable Kodefolks_StoreWiseStock bin/magento setup:upgrade bin/magento setup:di:compile bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy -f
- Index: Reindex the custom data source and flush caches:bashbin/magento indexer:reindex kodefolks_source_stockbin/magento cache:flush
