FreedomPay is a global commerce platform that powers payment processing for merchants across retail, hospitality, food service, gaming, healthcare, education, and other industries. As an independent payment gateway, FreedomPay connects merchants to a broad ecosystem of acquirers, payment methods, processors, and technology partners while allowing them to maintain existing banking relationships. 

The FreedomPay extension for Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source integrates FreedomPay directly into your checkout experience, enabling FreedomPay to manage payment acceptance, authorization, security, tokenization, and transaction processing. Merchants retain full control of their storefront, catalog, pricing, tax calculations, shipping, and order management workflows, while FreedomPay provides the payment infrastructure that powers secure commerce transactions. 

During checkout, shoppers are redirected to a FreedomPay Hosted Payment Page to complete payment. Once the transaction is processed, the shopper is returned to the store and the payment result is verified directly with FreedomPay before the order progresses. Because payment credentials are collected and processed exclusively within the FreedomPay environment, cardholder data never enters the Adobe Commerce application, helping merchants reduce PCI DSS scope and support eligibility for SAQ A.

Security & Compliance 

The extension uses a full-page redirect to FreedomPay's Hosted Payment Page for payment collection. Card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes are never collected, processed, transmitted, or stored by Adobe Commerce. 

Because payment credentials remain within the FreedomPay environment, merchants may qualify for the simplified PCI DSS SAQ A assessment. Merchants should confirm their specific compliance requirements with their acquirer or Qualified Security Assessor (QSA). 

Tokenization 

FreedomPay tokenization enables returning customers to securely save payment methods for future purchases. Stored payment credentials are represented by secure tokens rather than card numbers, helping improve customer convenience while maintaining strong security controls. 

Payment Operations 

Day-to-day payment operations remain within Adobe Commerce. Captures, refunds, and voids initiated from the Adobe Commerce Admin automatically trigger the corresponding actions within FreedomPay, allowing merchants to manage orders without switching between systems. 

Order status updates are validated directly with FreedomPay to ensure payment outcomes are accurately reflected before orders advance through fulfillment workflows. 

Requirements 

A FreedomPay merchant account is required to use this extension. After onboarding, FreedomPay will provide the credentials necessary to configure test and production environments. 

• Adobe Commerce and Magento Open Source 2.4.6-p1 or later 
• FreedomPay merchant account 
• FreedomPay Store ID and Terminal IDs for test and production 

Pricing 

The extension is free to download and install. Payment processing services are provided through a separate commercial agreement with FreedomPay. Pricing is based on business requirements, transaction volume, supported payment methods, and operating markets.
