Overview
Back to topMinimum order fee extension for Magento 2 allows store owners to charge a fee on customers whose cart subtotal does not meet the minimum order amount. The fee can be charged as a fixed amount or as a percentage of the cart subtotal. They can draft a warning message to inform customers of the surcharge. The conditions feature allows them to select many other product and cart attributes to trigger a rule.
The extension is a useful tool to maintain a good order value and a better profit margin on your store products. For example, if your shipping or packaging cost is high and you can’t afford low orders, you can cover the cost by incurring a small fee on customers. They can avoid the fee by increasing their order value. Besides, it leads to a lower inventory which reduces freeing up cash, management, and holding costs.

Incur A Fee On Low Orders
The extension is meant to increase your order value and reduce your shipping or packaging costs. The way it helps you do this is by persuading customers to take their cart total at least to the minimum amount or bear a fee. Once their cart total or quantity reaches the required minimum, the fee will be removed.
Charge A Fixed Or Percentage Fee
You can charge low-order customers in the following two ways.
- Fixed: Charge them a fixed amount regardless of how less the order value is than the minimum amount.
- Percentage: Charge them a percentage of the cart subtotal.
Display A Custom Warning Message
Draft a message that should adequately inform customers about the fee they have been charged, why they have been charged, and what they should do (if possible) to get rid of the extra fee.
Specify The Minimum Order Amount Via Condition
You can define the minimum order amount required to avoid the fee via a condition. You can do this by selecting the cart subtotal attribute. Apart from this attribute, you can select many other cart and product attributes to set advanced conditions. For example, you can charge a fee on customers based on their shipping country.
Specify The Minimum Order Fee
You can define the fixed or percentage fee you want to charge customers whose cart subtotal falls below the minimum order amount.
Option To Refund The Fee On Order Cancellation
To provide customers a good experience in doing business with you, the fee should be refunded if the order is canceled by the customer or store owner. The extension gives you this option and if you select ‘Yes’, a full refund will be issued after the order cancellation.
Prioritize Each Rule
For each rule, you can give a number that will determine its priority i.e. the rule with the highest priority will be executed first. 0 has the highest priority, 1 has less priority than 0, and so on.
Specify A Date Range
You can specify the duration for which you want the restriction to remain active. The restriction will not be valid before the starting or after the ending date.
Apply To Specific Customer Groups & Store Views
You can restrict a rule to specific customer groups or store views only. For example, you may want to enforce the order fee on wholesale customers and not retailers.
Display Minimum Order Fee On Multiple Pages
The minimum order fee appears on the following pages.
- Cart page
- Checkout page
- My account order view page
- Magento generated emails & PDFs
