Overview

Order Email Editor for Magento gives store administrators a safe, built-in way to correct or change the customer email address on an order that has already been placed - directly from the admin order screen, with no database edits and without cancelling and re-creating the order. When a shopper mistypes their address at checkout, asks to move an order to a different inbox, or a B2B buyer needs invoices routed to their accounts team, an admin simply opens the order, clicks a new Edit Email button in the Order & Account Information panel, types the corrected address, and saves. In a single database transaction the extension rewrites the email everywhere Magento stores it - the order header, both the billing and shipping address rows, and (through Magento's own reindex) the order, invoice, shipment and credit-memo grid tables - and can optionally update the linked customer account at the same time. From that point on every following transactional email - order confirmation, invoice, shipment and tracking, and credit memo - is delivered to the correct inbox. Every change is written to a dedicated, filterable audit log that records the old email, the new email, the admin who made the change, whether the customer record was updated, the IP address and the exact timestamp, so each correction is fully traceable. The extension is admin-only and adds no storefront assets, so it changes nothing your shoppers see and works with any theme - Luma or Hyva - without affecting front-end performance or full-page caching.

Features

  • Edit Email button on every admin order detail page, inside the Order & Account Information panel.
  • Clear change dialog showing the current email, a validated new-email field, and an optional "also update the linked customer account" checkbox that is hidden automatically for guest orders.
  • Atomic, complete update - the new address is written to the order header, both order address rows (billing and shipping), and the sales grid tables in one transaction, so nothing is left pointing at the old email.
  • Linked customer account and any surviving quote / quote-address row updated in the same operation.
  • Full, dedicated audit-trail grid: old email, new email, the admin who made the change, whether the customer record was updated, IP address and exact timestamp.
  • Standard Magento grid controls on the history log - filter, sort, saved views, show/hide columns, per-page paging and export.
  • Granular ACL with separate permissions for using the Edit Email modal, viewing the change-history grid, and viewing the configuration section.
  • Single master on/off switch under Stores > Configuration > eTechFlow > Order Email Editor; when disabled the order screen is completely unchanged.
  • Guest-order aware - corrects guest order emails without requiring a customer account and hides the customer-update option where it does not apply.
  • Admin-only and Hyva-safe - zero frontend assets, no storefront template overrides, no impact on page speed or caching.
  • Compatible with Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce 2.4.4 - 2.4.9, PHP 8.1 - 8.5.

Example use cases

  • A customer mistyped their email at checkout and never received the confirmation - fix the address and Magento resends every following email to the correct inbox.
  • A shopper asks to move their order and all future notifications to a different email address.
  • A B2B buyer needs invoices and shipment notifications sent to a separate accounts-payable inbox.
  • Support needs an auditable record of who changed an order email and when, for compliance or dispute handling.

What the merchant sees

The only visible change is in the admin: a new Edit Email button on the order view and a new Order Email Editor history grid under the eTechFlow admin menu. There are no storefront changes, no new frontend scripts and no theme overrides, so the customer-facing site looks and performs exactly as before. All behaviour is controlled by the module's configuration and by role-based permissions, and the audit log can be reviewed at any time.

Compatibility

Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce 2.4.4 - 2.4.9, PHP 8.1 - 8.5. Admin-only module with zero frontend dependencies - works with any theme, including Hyva.
