Overview
Back to topNot all regions in a country (US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland) are covered by a web store's shipping. Some merchants need to restrict the shipping area. For example, a web store may work under a license or distributor agreement that narrows activity to specific areas. Merchants may trade goods that can have special law restrictions in some regions. Region Manager allows handling lists of states/regions displayed to customers in the dropdown. It's easy to exclude unavailable areas through its user-friendly control panel.
The most common such issues appear in the US where laws and shipping costs differ from state to state. For example, a customer from Honokaa (Hawaii) orders a phone case in a New York web store and asks for 1 day shipping, but the shipping carrier for this store doesn’t ship to Hawaii. It’s better to disable this state for shipping in this case.
Out of the box, Magento doesn’t permit changing state (regions) lists. Fortunately, it’s possible to disabled regions though Region Manager administrative panel.
