How Does It Work?

Step 1: Enable Stripe Payment: The admin enables the Stripe Payment Gateway extension from the Magento configuration and enters the Stripe Publishable and Secret Keys to connect the store with Stripe.

Step 2: Configure Payment Settings: The admin configures the payment title, currency, test or live mode, country restrictions, order total limits, and sort order for the checkout page.

Step 3: Customer Completes Checkout: At checkout, the customer selects Stripe as the payment method, enters their card details and billing information, and completes the payment securely.

Step 4: Payment Processing: Stripe processes the transaction in the configured currency, and the order status is updated in Magento based on the payment result.

Step 5: Admin Manages Orders: The admin can view order details, check payment status, and generate invoices directly from the Magento Admin Panel.

Step 6: Refunds & Credit Memos: When a refund is required, the admin processes it through Stripe within the allowed refund period. The order status automatically updates to Closed upon a successful refund.

Step 7: Monitor via Stripe Dashboard: The admin can review all payment transactions, export records, and verify refund details directly from the Stripe dashboard for complete transparency.

Security & PCI Compliance

This module uses the Stripe API method (Stripe Elements) to process payments. The card entry field appears directly on the store's own checkout page — customers are not redirected to a separate website to pay.

Card details are captured securely inside Stripe's hosted field and sent straight from the customer's browser to Stripe's servers. This means customer card data is never entered into or stored on the Magento server — Magento only keeps a Stripe transaction reference ID, used for order tracking and refunds.

Because of this setup, the module typically qualifies for SAQ A, the simplest PCI compliance level.
