Back to topPayMongo is a financial technology company that allows businesses of various sizes in the Philippines to accept all types of online payments from their customers, including credit cards, debit cards, and e-wallets, through a single online platform. PayMongo's platform currently supports card brands, Mastercard and Visa, and Filipino / local e-wallets, GCash and GrabPay. With PayMongo, what used to be fragmented payment options are put together under one B2B financial service.
Filipino developer Cynder used PayMongo's standard APIs and e-commerce plugins to create this extension for Magento, allowing more businesses to use PayMongo's payment options and platform. The extension utilizes both API and redirect strategy for payment authorization and processing. All confidential data (ex. credit card details) will be processed through the PayMongo API. Likewise, no confidential data will be stored on the merchant's server. All payment authorization will be done on the respective processor's servers as well (banks, GCash, GrabPay). Note that the Philippine Peso is the only supported currency on the platform.
Account & Pricing
You need to create a free PayMongo merchant account to set up this extension. Signing up for a PayMongo merchant account is a separate process from installing the extension for Magento. You may sign up for an account here. The PayMongo customer success team takes 5-7 business days to approve merchant applications.

Security
Compliance with PCI-DSS standards
PayMongo is a PCI Service Provider Level 1 compliant payment provider. They have been audited by an independent PCI-certified auditor through the most stringent compliance process available in the payments industry.
Secure connections using HTTPS
When sending information over the Internet, that data is at risk of attackers secretly intercepting. These types of attacks are called man in the middle attacks. To prevent these types of vulnerabilities, PayMongo requires that all interactions with their properties, including their website, Dashboard and APIs, be made only through HTTPS.
They also use HSTS, forcing browsers to interact with PayMongo only over HTTPS. To ensure this, PayMongo is included in the HSTS preload lists of all major web browsers.
Fraud prevention
PayMongo uses a machine learning engine to detect and fight fraud by analyzing thousands of different combinations of signals from historical and real-time data. A dedicated PayMongo Fraud and Risk team builds and manages the risk assessment rules, protecting merchants against fraud attacks and bad actors.
Support for 3D Secure
3D Secure or 3DS is a protocol implemented by various card networks to improve security for card-not-present transactions such as online purchases or telephone orders.
In the Philippines, 3DS authentication is most common in the form of entering a one-time pin (OTP) sent via SMS. 3DS transactions will not push through if the customer has failed to authenticate them with their OTP.
