Overview

SAs a part of Block, Clearpay is a leading payment solution focused on its mission of economic empowerment. Clearpay’s product innovation improves commerce for both consumers and sellers. As a global payment solution, Clearpay allows customers to pay overtime, and merchants get paid upfront in full with no repayment risk. We offer flexible payment options to either pay-in-4 in 6 weeks.

The Clearpay extension for Adobe Commerce adds Clearpay as a native payment method on your store. Magento creates the checkout through the Clearpay API and sends the shopper to Clearpay-hosted pages to finish payment. After they confirm or cancel, they return to your Magento success or cart page. You are paid upfront in full, with no repayment risk. Shoppers pay over time with pay in 4 over 6 weeks.

On the storefront, Clearpay appears as a checkout payment option with the Clearpay logo, payment-schedule messaging, and a Continue to Clearpay button. You can also show Express Checkout buttons on the product, cart, and mini-cart pages, so shoppers complete payment in a Clearpay-hosted popup without going through the full Magento checkout. In Admin, you can capture and refund Clearpay orders (including partial refunds), choose immediate or deferred payment flow, exclude product categories, and turn messaging and Express Checkout on or off per page. The extension supports Luma, Hyvä (including Hyvä Checkout), and headless storefronts through GraphQL and REST.

Clearpay is available only to merchants in the United Kingdom.

Feature list:

  • Transact and build loyalty with young customers: 70% of Clearpay’s audience are Gen Z and Millennials. (Source: Clearpay, Internal Customer Demographics 2026)
  • Increase average order value: Merchants saw up to 2X increase in AOV with Clearpay. (Source: Clearpay internal reporting Jan-Dec 2026)
  • Reduce checkout friction: Seamless to integrate for merchants and easy to use for customers
  • Transact with confidence: Receive protection from repayment risk.

Security

Clearpay is a PCI DSS Level 1 certified service provider. Cardholder data is collected, processed, and stored by Clearpay on Clearpay-hosted pages, not by this Magento extension.

This integration uses both Redirect and API:

  • Redirect: At Magento checkout, the shopper is redirected to Clearpay-hosted pages (for example, the Clearpay portal) to enter payment details and complete the Clearpay screenflow. Express Checkout uses a Clearpay-hosted popup for the same purpose. In both flows, the shopper is redirected away from your Magento store to pay. They are not entering card or bank details on your Magento checkout form.
  • API: Magento communicates with Clearpay over HTTPS using your Merchant ID and encrypted Merchant Key. API calls create a checkout, return a checkout token and redirect URL, then capture, refund, or reverse the payment. Those calls send order, amount, and Magento customer/address data already collected for the quote. They do not send or receive card numbers, CVV, expiry dates, or other sensitive authentication data.

PCI SAQ level: This redirect and hosted-page integration meets PCI DSS SAQ A. Payment pages are hosted by Clearpay. Magento does not present card fields, and it does not process or transmit cardholder data.

Customer payment data on the Magento server:

  • Customer payment data is not entered into the Magento server.
  • Customer payment data is not stored on the Magento server.

Magento stores only standard Magento order information (such as name, email, and shipping/billing address) plus Clearpay checkout tokens and Clearpay order identifiers used to complete capture, refund, and reconciliation. Merchant credentials are stored encrypted in Magento configuration. Debug logs redact consumer, billing, and shipping fields.
