Overview

EU User Data Privacy Policy requires that all store sites selling to EEA-UK customers must obtain end users’ legacy valid consent when collecting, sharing, and using personal data for personalization of ads and analytics. In this case, BSS Commerce developed the Magento 2 Cookie Consent extension, which displays popups to ask customer consent for the use of cookies and logs their response with the support of Google Consent Mode v2.

This extension also enables admins to customize the consent bar's position, colors, and text to align seamlessly with the store's branding. It ensures a user-friendly approach to gaining cookie consent while maintaining a professional design.

Key Feature

Setting up content status with Google Consent Mode v2 supported

The EU User Consent Policy requires explicit consent for data collection, and Google Consent Mode v2 helps manage this with parameters like ad_storage and analytics_storage. But, configuring it in Magento default can be complex. That is why you need the Magento 2 Cookie Consent extension. Our module will automate the process while ensuring compliance and ease of setup.

Freely customizing cookie bar

This feature enables admins to design appealing Magento cookie banners that align with the store’s branding. You can customize their text, design, and placement to fit seamlessly with your store’s branding.

These banners provide clear options for users to accept or reject cookies on their first visits. Store owners can configure the duration of the cookie popup display, ensuring it closes automatically if users do not interact with it. Customers can revisit and modify their cookie consent anytime via a customizable link added to your webpage.

Setting default logic in cases of non-interaction

When users don't interact with the consent bar, the extension applies a default logic for cookie collection. This feature bridges the data gaps in analytics and ads conversion reports, enabling more accurate tracking and reporting without compromising user preferences.

Displaying consent bar for specific countries with GeoIP

Because the EU Privacy Policy only applies to end users located in the EU, EEA & UK, customers outside these regions may not have to decide their Consent Mode. Therefore, we developed Cookie Consent Magento 2 with the GeoIP-supported feature. It allows store owners to detect the customer's IP and display the cookie consent bar only to specific countries/regions.

Other features

  • Responsive on multiple devices like Desktops, Mobiles, and Tablets
  • Gathering consented cookies for Google Analytics tools, Google Tag Manager, and other business marketing tools.

Benefits

  • Enhances compliance with EU user consent policy
  • Builds trust by offering transparency in data usage.
  • Improves user experience with visually appealing and non-intrusive banners.
  • Simplifies consent management across multiple store views.
