Aheadworks NET 30 extension for Magento 2 enables Deferred Payment (also known NET 30) as a payment method in a Magento 2 store and allows configuring it for timely payback.
The Deferred Payment is an instrument of processing orders with delayed payment, when trusted customers order products without paying at checkout. That is, customers order on debt or on trust, get the products shipped as per the order, and only then pay for them within the given payback period (also known payment acquittance period). This is a classical scenario. Other scenarios are also possible, but what remains constant is that store owners can defer payment until some change to an order status. The present extension NET 30 delivers such functionality in full.
It is important to note here, that merchants usually have written and signed agreements with customers to operate the NET 30 payment method. Some common, though important, terms of the above agreements are reflected in the functionality of the present extension.
Deferred Payment, as it is embodied in the NET 30 extension from Aheadworks, does not require credit card details to place an order, but for a number of a relevant Purchase Order - a carbon-copy document (if any) to confirm the purchase on the given terms as against the official Agreement (if any) between the buyer and seller. The realities of the described model of business relationship may vary. Thereby, NET 30 for Magento 2 only aims at facilitating such a model on basic though explicit for eCommerce terms.
Features
- Deferred payment as a payment method both on front and backend
- Unlimited total price for orders on the deferred payment terms
- Eligibility restriction by customer group
- Debt acquittance period set-up for each group
- Order status set-up for payment deadline countdown
- Overdue payment monitoring on backend
- Configurable automatic email notifications
- Multishipping support
Alongside the native Magento 2 configuration options for payment methods, the NET 30 extension allows specifying customer groups eligible for the NET 30 Deferred Payment method, setting deadlines for payment acquittance for each chosen group and customizing order status to open and close periods for debt payback. Moreover, the Admins get able to monitor orders made on the NET 30 payment terms, and prompt customers to clear balance with automatic email notifications.
Business Value
NET 30 extension for Magento 2 is a pay-later eCommerce solution allowing customers to order products without paying at checkout, that is on the deferred payment terms. Here are the three major benefits the Deferred Payment brings about to customers:
- Eliminates impediments to purchasing
- Features no hidden fees
- Keeps customers safe
No Impediments to Purchasing
If your prospective customers question whether they should buy from you while they are in the checkout process, you will be less likely to make the sale. Doubt may well lead to abandoned shopping carts and lost revenues.
A one-step form of checkout, the NET 30 approach speeds up purchasing and eliminates doubt.
When you give customers the opportunity to defer payment, you remove all direct financial repercussions from the transaction. Customers do not have to face the outcomes of their purchases right away, which makes them more likely to follow through with a purchase.
No Hidden Fees
The NET 30 logic of deferred payment presumes no hidden fees, payment conditions or terms of use (but for those of restricting the payment method to the customer groups you trust). This allows you to deal with consumers in an honest, straightforward manner that will preserve your credibility.
No Infringement of Customer Safety
The transactions customers make online may compromise their identities or their credit ratings. Shoppers can be understandably wary as a result. The NET 30 method does not actually draw from your clients’ credit cards. Instead, it facilitates your taking the owed amount right out of shoppers’ bank accounts, via a bank transfer, for example. This ensures you get paid on time and consumers remain safe throughout the transaction.
This is how the NET 30 extension brings about e-commerce advances that give your consumers greater control over how they shop.
How It Works
The NET 30 extension for Magento 2 is primarily a backend module, though with immediate implication of customers into its functionality on the storefront. NET 30 ensures shoppers experience familiar, but enhanced, native Magento checkout functionality. Store administrators, on their side, get empowered with the three steps below.
STEP 1 - Payment Configuration
Employ the native Magento 2 functionality on payment methods configuration to enable NET 30 and set it up for use. As an enhancement to the native Magento 2 functionality the NET 30 extension prompts specifying customer groups to be eligible for the Deferred Payment and then setting periods of debt acquittance for each of those. Thereto, the module expects you to have customer groups arranged in the store. Magento 2 offers default groups, as well as the functionality to extend the list. You may create all sorts of groups you consider meaningful.
Finally, at this step you will be able to select order statuses to open and close the debt acquittance period (unique for all customer groups).
STEP 2 - Notification configuration
Next step implies configuring email notifications that will automatically notify customers on approaching the deadline of payment and on crossing that deadline. The set-up is available on the extension settings page. This is where you are able to assign a user role to feature as an addresser in the email, pick up the templates for the emails and indicate when email notifications are to be sent to a customer.
STEP 3 - Monitoring orders
To monitor orders made on the deferred payment terms, and miss on no overdue payment make use of the NET 30 Orders grid. The grid will tell when payments are due for each order, and how many days they have been overdue. You will also be able to get quick access to the details on the orders with the help of active links. Navigating to an Order page you will be able to update the status of the order, and thereby initiate or close the deal.
Example & Use Cases
Though not infrequent in the B2C sector, the Deferred Payment is natural in B2B. It is a regular practice for many suppliers to defer payment to their credit-worthy customers for a purchase. Indeed, such a term of payment presumes thorough investigation of your customers’ creditworthiness. The results of such research could lay grounds for placing B2B customers into some more specific groups than those of Retailer and Wholesale, native to Magento 2. The present extension, NET 30, allows specifying periods of debt payback against various customer groups available in the store, which can, indeed, reflect your analysis of customers’ creditworthiness.
Geography of consumers could also be a criteria for their being further classified into groups. An advanced approach of customer country selection (as compared to the native Magento functionality) presumes thinking of countries as areas of specific tax and customs, as well as goods and debt insurance regulations that may result in tighter terms and conditions of trade as laid out in a basic Deferral Payment Agreement.
Thinking of trust, business size, credit history and business potential and other criteria you may come up with a variety of other customer groups which will require different periods of payment deferment. To specify thereof is the functionality of the NET 30 extension for Magento 2.
